Rayann Cruz endorses Rob Davis

“I am writing in support of Rob Davis for District Judge, who had a profound impact on my life during one of the most difficult experiences I have ever faced.

I was appointed to work with him after I was a victim of sexual assault. From the very beginning, he approached my case with professionalism, patience, and respect. He made sure I understood every step of the legal process and every decision that needed to be made. At a time when I felt powerless, he made it a priority to ensure that I was informed, heard, and in control of my own case.

When it came time to determine the outcome, he initially advocated for jail time for the offender. However, I expressed that I wanted a different form of accountability—lifetime sex offender registration. I explained my reasoning, believing that this would better protect others in the long term. Rather than dismissing my perspective, he took the time to listen and understand. Once he did, he fully supported my decision and worked to achieve the outcome I felt was right.

That experience is why I feel compelled to speak out now. The claim that he is lenient on offenders, particularly in cases involving sexual misconduct, does not reflect the reality of my experience. He advocated strongly for accountability and, just as importantly, respected the voice and autonomy of the victim in determining what justice looked like.

He is thoughtful, thorough, and guided by both integrity and a genuine respect for the people he serves. I believe those qualities are essential for anyone seeking to serve as a district judge.
